PROCEDURE DESCRIPTION
The procedure is usually performed under general anesthesia. (Mini-abdominoplasties can be performed under sedation and local anesthesia). Scars will soften and fade with time. Mini-abdominoplasty (shortest scar) tightens the lower abdominal wall skin only. Standard abdominoplasty (standard scar) tightens all of the abdominal wall skin and muscle.

RECUPERATION AND HEALING
Abdominoplasty is one of the more uncomfortable cosmetic surgery procedures. Two days of hospitalization or skilled nursing care is usually indicated. Light activity is comfortable in 2-3 weeks. Sports will not be comfortable for about 6 weeks. Your incisions will feel somewhat rigid or firm and have a reddish purple appearance for several months. You can normally return to work 2-4 weeks following a mini-abdominoplasty and 4-6 weeks following a standard adominoplasty.

OTHER OPTIONS
Additional procedures that may enhance the result are Liposuction, Endermologie and Breast Procedures.

NOTE: The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.
