Procedure Description
The Ageless™ Minilift was developed by Dr. Salzman to specifically address early facial aging. This operative procedure is usually done in our office under a local anesthetic with an oral sedative. We use a tumescent local anesthetic to numb the area. Limited separation of the skin and underlying fat is done. Purse string dissolvable sutures are placed to draw the more mobile and sagging areas up and back to the more fixed tissues close to the ear. A second row of sutures is placed extending down into the upper neck. The extra skin that is produced is then trimmed and sewn back to the zig-zag incisions in the hairline and in the natural creases around the front of the ear. A light dressing is placed around the ears and the patient goes home.
Recovery and Healing
The healing is similar to a traditional facelift only shorter in duration. The sutures around the front of the ear are removed in 5 days. The few sutures behind the earlobe dissolve on their own in 10 days. Most patients are presentable in just a few days. Swelling and bruising usually resolve in 7-10 days. Pain is easily controlled with oral medications and lasts only a day or two. Results are long lasting.
Other Options
Additional procedures that may enhance the results are micro liposuction of the neck and jowls or fat grafting of the pre jowl sulcus, cheeks or nasolabial folds.
