Artefill®
Dr. Salzman is one of only two physicians in Louisville that has been certified in the use of ArteFill®, a permanent wrinkle filler. ArteFill® contains tiny microspheres made of polymethy-imethacrylate (PMMA), one of the most widely used synthetic implant materials in medicine. Unlike most wrinkle fillers, ArteFill® will not be absorbed by your body. Instead, the tiny microspheres will remain intact at the injection site providing structural support for the wrinkle. Depending on the degree of correction needed, some patients may need more than one treatment to build layers of ArteFill® for optimal correction.

The
product is made of non-animal based hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic
acid is a natural substance that already exists in the
human body where it provides moisture and fullness to
the skin. It is completely biodegradable, biocompatible,
and FDA approved.
Restylane can be used in conjunction with
Botox in the Glabella. The restylane works to fill the
wrinkle while the Botox paralyzes the muscle.
This injectable filler has been used in
more than 1 million treatments in 60 countries. Treatments
generally last twice as long as Collagen injections; about
6 months.
Restylane is injected into the skin in
tiny amounts using an ultrafine needle. No allergy test
is necessary since it is a non-animal based product.

Radiesse
Radiesse
formerly know as Radiance, is made of calcium hydroxylapatite
microspheres suspended in a biocompatible gel.
It has
been in use over the last seven years. It is long lasting
(Up to 3 years) and does not require a skin test because
its mineral content is the same component found in our
bones and teeth.
Radiesse
is injected through tiny pre-loaded needle syringes. It
is not absorbed by your system therefore; we do not need
to over-fill the wrinkle. Results are immediate.

Perlane
Perlane®, an addition to the Restylane® family
of products, has been approved in the U.S. for
the treatment of facial wrinkles and folds.
Perlane® is composed of larger gel particles than
Restylane® and is best used for deeper folds and
wrinkles to build structural support. Perlane®

Cosmoplast
and Cosmoderm:
CosmoDerm and CosmoPlast are created from human
collagen. No skin test is required. They are injected
into the skin to fill lips, lines, and wrinkles. Results
are immediate and can last up to 6 months.

Sculptra:
Sculptra is made of poly-L-lactic acid and is great for
treating skin depressions, wrinkles, folds, scars and
eye rings. Although Sculptra is not a wrinkle filler or
muscle paralyzer like Botox, it jump starts surrounding
fibroblasts, producing natural collagen growth. By using
three monthly treatments, it will continue to produce
collagen for up to two years. Often in can be used in
combination with a wrinkle filler so results are immediate.

Fat Transfer:
The patient's own fat is collected (suctioned) from a
distant donor area and reinjected into the defect area.
Fat transfer may require sedation plus local anesthesia
if larger amounts of fat are to be collected. Small amounts
of fat can be collected and transferred under local anesthesia.

RECUPERATION
AND HEALING
The treated areas usually look normal within a matter
of hours after collagen injection and within a few days
after fat transfer.
