Reduce Your Facelift Healing Time with Your Own Platelets!
Thanks to new technology doctors can harvest platelets from a patient right in the office. PRP, a natural healing accelerator for a Facelift, Mini Facelift and Fat Injections, that encourages the body to take advantage of its normal healing pathways at a greatly accelerated rate. During the healing process, the body rushes many platelets to a wound in order to initiate the healing process. Platelets release growth factors in to the wound to assist the body in repairing itself by regenerating new tissue growth. The supersaturation of the wound with PRP produces an increase of tissue synthesis and thus faster tissue regeneration. PRP is a by-product of the patient's own blood, therefore, disease transmission and allergic reactions are not a concern.
WHAT YOU SHOULD EXPECT FROM YOUR NURSE INJECTOR

The relationship between the patient and Nurse Injector is one built on trust. My approach is to spend quality time with each patient. This allows me to assess each patients needs but more importantly find out what they hope to accomplish with their treatment. As a Nurse Injector, I am the caregiver as well as a patient advocate. That being said, I feel it is important to educate the patient about the different treatments and together we can make a plan to accomplish their goals. If a treatment you are considering will not deliver the results that you want, I will let you know this and will help you find another option that would better meet your expectations. At Skin Spa by Salzman our goal is complete patient satisfaction.

Melissa’s Mommy Makeover
I wasn’t lucky enough to be one of the few women in this world blessed with unforgiving skin. My pregnancies definitely left obvious reminders of the tremendous stretching that a woman’s body endures while carrying their little miracle. I have been blessed with four children and after birthing each one, my body recovered slower and rebounded less. Please understand, my children are worth every pregnancy scar I carry, but that doesn’t take away the insecurities I have about my body. With each pregnancy my breast also changed. They became larger and droopier. I was very insecure about the silhouette my mirror reflected. They say beauty is on the inside and I do agree to an extent, however when you are not happy with yourself it can affect every aspect of your being; emotionally, mentally, intimately and of course physically. A healthy diet and exercise should have a great presence in everyone’s daily life, but even with all the positives we gain from that, the physical image insecurities I have will never be affected for the better.
Having worked with Dr. Salzman for many years, I have seen the amazing before and after results of the Mommy Makeover. I knew once I was done having children I would undergo this procedure with the hopes of achieving beautiful results like all the other women I have witnessed over the years. Once I decided that my child birthing years were over, I planned my Mommy Makeover! I scheduled it for more than 7 months away so that I could plan everything around it for a smoother experience.
November 17, 2011 was my special day, the day for my Mommy Makeover!

WOW, yes, it hurt; I’m not going to lie. However, it wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. The first two days, I slept a lot. By the third day I was staying awake more and feeling better. The fourth day was my first day home alone. Vaccuming and laundry were still out of the question but I was plenty capable of fixing myself simple foods and drinks as well as take care of my drain and medication schedule. My breast didn’t hurt at all, but the Tummy Tuck was extremely tight and kept me moving slowly. I tried to move around as much as I could, knowing that would help work my soreness out quicker. By the time one week went by, I was getting bored and looking forward to returning to work. I was off work a total of 10 days which for me and my sedentary job was enough.
With every passing week my swelling lessened and my results were becoming more obvious. This is by far the BEST thing I have ever done for myself! I knew I would feel better about my physical image, but I had no idea to what extent. A good friend of mine and I scheduled to go on a cruise only three months after my Mommy Makeover and I went shopping for BIKINI’S. I hadn’t been brave enough to wear one of those for over 15 years. Having this done has made a HUGE difference for me in many ways and I encourage every mom to at least look into having a Mommy Makeover, you won’t regret it!

Gone are the days of drawing on my lips. Goodbye lip liners, plumpers, and anti-feathering products. I never had much in the way of lips to begin with but as I was aging, I noticed my lips were beginning to disappear.
A little bruising and swelling and I was looking and feeling great on day three after my 30 minute procedure with Dr. Salzman. I have beautiful, natural lips, and I couldn't be more pleased.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERNCE IN WRINKLE AND DERAML FILLERS?
Injectable dermal fillers have become the easiest way to smooth away those unwanted wrinkles. New dermal fillers are hitting the market every day and it can be a little confusing to sort through them, or even tell the difference between them. A lot of cosmetic dermal fillers are very similar, but the difference really depends on what you're using a particular wrinkle injectable for. Some dermal fillers might be better at filling in crow's feet, laugh lines, or forehead creases, while others are great at enhancing lips, or filling in acne scars or dark circles under the eye. Also, always call Skin Spa at 502-894-8948 if you have additional questions or wish to schedule an appointment with one of our advanced nurse injectors.
PINEAPPLES ARE NATURE'S HEALING FRUIT - OCTOBER 4TH, 2010

Pineapples are nutritionally packed members of the bromeliad family. This delightful tropical fruit is high in the enzyme bromelain and the antioxidant vitamin C, both of which play a major role in the body's healing process.
Bromelain is natural anti-inflammatory and is very effective in treating bruises, sprains and strains by reducing swelling, tenderness and pain. This powerful anti-inflammatory effect can also help relieve and reduce postoperative swelling. Pineapples provide an ample supply of vitamin C too, a commonly known antioxidant that protects the body from free radical damage and boosts the immune system. Vitamin C helps build and repair bodily tissue and promotes wound healing. The body uses vitamin C to synthesize amino acids and collagen. Collagen is one of the primary building blocks of skin, cartilage and bones.
Choose the fresh fruit because it has the most healing properties. Unfortunately, most of the bromelain in canned pineapple is destroyed due to the heat used in the canning process.
When choosing a fresh pineapple, the most important factor in determining ripeness is smell, let your nose help you decide. Ripe pineapples give off a sweet, fresh tropical smell. Avoid pineapples that give off an unpleasant odor or have any soft spots or areas of dark discoloration.
RICE BREAST IMPLANT SIZERS - OCTOBER 4th, 2010
What you will need:
- uncooked rice
- measuring cup
- an old pair of nylon stockings or ziploc bags
- a well-fitting sports bra (or a regular bra in your "goal size"
Make the "shell." You may use zip-style locking plastic bags for a quick and easy solution if you like. However, a more natural and comfortable feel can be achieved by cutting a 12-inch length of nylon stockings.
Measure the rice. Using a measuring cup, use the following as a guideline:
- 1/8 cup rice = 30cc
- 1/4 cup rice = 59cc
- 1/3 cup rice = 78cc
- 1/2 cup rice = 118cc
- 2/3 cup rice = 156cc
- 3/4 cup rice = 177cc
- 1 cup rice = 236cc
Fill your new "implant." Fill the bag or stocking with the amount of rice you have chosen. Close the bag or tie off the other end of the stocking.
Try them out. Place the sealed bags full of rice into a well-fitting sports bra and wear them while you engage in all your usual daily activities. Pay attention to both how they look and how they feel.
Change it up. If you don't like the first size you try, dump out the rice, re-measure, and add the new amount. Repeat step 3.
Tips:
- This is an entirely unscientific test which will provide only a rough guideline. However, it has helped many women with their decisions about breast implant size, and can help you adjust to the look and feel of having larger breasts before making a permanent decision. Ask your doctor if he recommends this or other methods to help with your decision.
- If your implants will be placed under the muscle, you may need to adjust the size of your implant upward by about 15% from the amount you liked during your rice test in order to account for the compression of the pectoral muscle on your implants.
EVENING OF BEAUTY - AUGUST 6TH, 2010

Having just finished our 13th annual Evening of Beauty, I would like to thank all of those who came for making it another successful event. In the 8 years that I have worked the Evening of beauty, the moments I have most enjoyed are the conversations I have with my former patients that return for the event. It means so much to me when patients make a special effort to come by and say Hi.
Many of my patients become what I call a permanent part of our family, choosing to refer family members and friends. In addition, many of our regular patients return to enjoy the relaxation of our spa, or indulge in our new plastic surgery procedures. Dr. Salzman is always on the cutting edge with innovative procedures and the latest and greatest cosmetic surgery equipment. I appreciate the loyalty and am already looks forward to next year. A lot of my patients know about my grandson, Zachary, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your kind words and support.

LIP REJUVENATION - JULY 29TH, 2010

Many women don't like the way there lips look but are afraid of plastic surgery because of the "fish lip" look. We want to assure you that it is possible for your lips to be rejuvenated without looking like cartoon fish!
As we age our skin starts to lose its collagen and elastin which is what makes your skin look full and smooth. As the lips lose volume the lines from muscle movements start to form. Injections such as Botox or Dysport can help relax the lip. These help soften the lines and slightly lift the upper lip but it will not replace the volume. There is usually no down time with this injection but it takes four to seven days to take full effect.
To replace the volume loss we use different lip rejuvenation techniques. We have different Hyaluronic acid fillers we can use to smooth out your lip lines without making your lips larger. Often all it takes is a small amount of filler along the border and the lines are gone. There can be some swelling so it is best to plan to do this when you can stay out of the public eye for a day or two. The results will last six to nine months and you will love your lips again.
JUNE 24TH, 2009

I have been an active member of the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialist Organization for 12+ years, serving as a mentor for new inductees. The involvement I have with the SPSSCS has given me the unique opportunity to network with my colleague's who also work under the supervision of an on site Board Certified Plastic Surgeon. The SPSSCS goal is to seek, educate and share valuable information pertaining to the advancement of the art and science of plastic surgical skin care.
Why would you seek out an esthetician with these credentials?
- They have the highest level of training and continuing education
- We have hands on experience and guidance gained by being inside the plastic surgery setting
- Enhancement of clinical skills, delivery of safe quality skin care
- Trust
The competence I have acquired and been able to extend to my patients is invaluable, it's made my career exciting and rewarding.
Active members of the Society of Plastic Surgical Skin Care Specialist must be currently employed by or under the direct supervision of a plastic surgeon that is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Members may be nurses, estheticians or physician assistants.

NOVEMBER 19TH, 2008

I would like to introduce myself; I am Kim, Dr. Salzman's Surgical Nurse and Study Coordinator. My role is to assist Dr. Salzman in consultations, surgeries and with before and after patient care. During your consultation, we will do a complete exam and photo imaging, the exam of course is necessary to be sure you are a good candidate for your procedure interest, and the photo imaging is a wonderful communicating tool. After you schedule your surgery, you will meet with me in a pre-operative appointment. As your nurse educator, I will go through an extensive pre-operative and post-operative instruction and expectation booklet with you. This booklet is yours to keep for reference at home. We will also go over any concerns or questions you may have about your scheduled procedure. After your pre-operative appointment, I want you to feel comfortable in knowing that I am always just a phone call away if any questions or concerns may arise.
Dr. Salzman has implanted gel breast implants since they were first brought back to the market in 1992, and we are now successful in having two of the studies open for free unrestricted use. We are still working on ten year study for a cohesive implant from Europe that can only be implanted by Dr. Salzman in Kentucky. This has been very exciting for me and rewarding to know that my patients can enjoy the natural look and feel of the gel implant, and know they are medically safe.
I have worked with Dr. Salzman for over six years now and was a former patient for six years. Dr. Salzman values his staff and patients, and makes every effort to accommodate and make all experiences pleasant. I was recently a patient again when I had a phenol peel. It is hard to transition myself from nurse to patient, so I do understand the anxiety that can occur. I like to share my experiences with my patients and give them an opportunity to talk to other patients before and after their surgery. I like having a connection with my patients, and their family, and want all patients to feel comfortable enough with me to call at any time. Our office has long time employees, which makes our patients, feel comfortable with their surroundings. Surgery can be a very anxious time and confidence in the Doctor and staff is very important. I feel our office has all the qualities to make your experience a memorable one, this is one reason I joined Dr. Salzman's team. Most of our patients return for other services because they feel comfortable here. When my patients are happy, then I am happy!
