Are you suffering from glabellar lines, or more commonly known as frown lines, between your brows? Do you get asked, “What’s wrong?” too many times throughout the day? You may be an excellent candidate for Dysport® injections at Salzman MedSpa in Louisville, Kentucky.
Dysport® addresses the primary cause of frown lines in patients 65 years or younger: repeated muscle contractions, such as frowning and other facial expressions throughout the years. For more information on other injectables, visit the injectables home page.
How does Dysport® work?
Dysport® is a prescription medicine of abobotulinumtoxinA, a neuromodulator used to temporarily improve the appearance of frown lines without the “overdone” or “frozen” look. When injected into the overworked facial muscles, Dysport® blocks nerve signals to the muscles, which results in lower muscle activity and prevents muscle contractions that lead to frown lines.
In return, Dysport® provides a smoother, improved appearance of frown lines. Facial muscles that are not injected with Dysport® still function properly, which allows you to smile and show other facial expressions as the formula works.
What can I expect during Dysport® treatment?
During a Dysport® session, the medicine is injected using a very small needle into the targeted muscles causing your frown lines. Every patient’s exact locations will vary, so a consultation with one of our expert providers is necessary to achieve your ideal results. Patients generally report a slight pinch during injection treatment. If you are concerned about discomfort, please let your injection specialist know. For more information about a painless needle, visit our blog.
The procedure takes approximately 15 minutes, and there is no downtime associated with Dysport®. Within 24 to 48 hours, you will see an improvement in the appearance of your moderate to severe frown lines. You should allow up to 10 days to see the end results. These age-defying outcomes generally last up to 4 months. However, every patient’s results will vary, and it is important to talk to your injector about what you can expect and when to schedule your touch-up appointments.
With any procedure, make sure to discuss all medical conditions with one of our providers. If you are allergic to cow’s milk protein, Dysport® is not right for you. You should also report any allergies to botulinum toxin products, or if you have experienced adverse side effects from other botulinum toxins in the past, such as Botox® or Xeomin®.
