Lip Implants In Louisville, KY

Lip Implants in Louisville, Lexington, Kentucky

Lip implants create permanently larger and fuller lips without the need for repetitive procedures, as is needed with dermal fillers or fat transfers (fat grafts).

The procedure is done in-office and takes only 30 minutes. The lip is numbed and a tiny incision is made in the corner. The implant is threaded in and incisions are stitched with dissolvable sutures. The Perma Facial Lip Implant is made of a soft, solid silicone elastomer. It is a naturally contoured implant with a smooth, non-porous surface. It cannot rupture or deflate and may be removed at any time.

The Perma Facial Lip implant is an FDA-approved device designed for tissue augmentation of the face, used in the lips. There are three different sizes of implants to ensure patients get the look they want.

If patients have had temporary lip filler injections in the past, Dr.Salzman recommends waiting 6 months from their last treatment to have the implant(s) placed.

Initial swelling is usually moderate and gradually disappears in one week. Discomfort is easily controlled with oral medications. Patients follow a liquid diet for 24 hours post procedure, then have a soft food diet for one week. There should be limited movement of the mouth for up to one week. Use of a drinking straw can be resumed in one week. Patients need to keep their lips lubricated while healing.

The specific risks and suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are unusual.
