Mini Tummy Tuck in Louisville, Lexington, Kentucky
Mini tummy tucks are performed on patients who struggle with skin laxity, stubborn fat, and muscle weakness that extends only below the belly button. In more extensive cases, a traditional tummy tuck may be required for best results. These procedures are commonly combined with liposuction of the waist and hips in order to further slim down the area. Patients should be at or near their ideal weight and have no further plans for pregnancy, as this can reverse the great results of a mini tummy tuck.
This procedure tries to create a flatter, tighter abdominal wall, less subcutaneous fat, and reduced excess skin. This can result in a slimmer, more toned lower-body profile that can be augmented by other lower body lifts or liposuction procedures.

Since this procedure is invasive, anesthesia is required. After it’s administered, an incision is made in the pubic area, with the length and size depending on the extensiveness of the procedure. Through this incision, the plastic surgeon can tighten the underlying muscles and use liposuction to refine the contours of the area. Any excess skin can be trimmed away, and the incision is then closed.
Recuperation and Healing
The mini tummy tuck is less invasive and leaves a shorter scar than a traditional tummy tuck and therefore heals faster. However, the mini tummy tuck still requires downtime. The postoperative course of mini tummy tucks has recently been vastly improved by the use of a TAP block and TissueGlu. The TAP block is done by the anesthesiologist after you are put to sleep. Under ultrasound guidance, a long-lasting numbing medicine (Exparel) is injected between two muscles of the abdomen where the nerves that supply feeling to the front of the belly are located. Drains are not used, and instead, a synthetic glue that dissolves on its own is sprayed between the skin and fat that are lifted and the muscle underneath. With no drain, the patient can shower the next day! Bruising and swelling generally resolve after two weeks. Patients with less vigorous job duties can usually return to work in seven to ten days.
Mini tummy tucks can be combined with many cosmetic breast procedures, thigh lifts, or other areas of liposculpture. A more extensive procedure might be required to accommodate a Brazilian butt lift procedure. Dr. Salzman can help you determine your best treatment plan.
