MOXI™ Treatment

You may take great care of your skin on a daily basis, being mindful about removing makeup and applying all the right products. Still, you may struggle to keep your skin looking perfectly smooth, firm, and radiant as you age. There are several factors that influence your appearance besides biological aging. These include how much time you spend in the sun, whether or not you smoke or consume alcohol, and more. We’ve long turned to laser treatments to address various cosmetic concerns that affect the skin. Today, MOXI ™ is one of the most popular.

Here at Salzman Cosmetic Surgery and Spa, we’re proud to offer a comprehensive menu of services to help you reach your beauty goals. To learn more about MOXI laser treatment or other treatments that can revive damaged, aging skin, contact our Louisville, KY office at 502-425-5200.

What is MOXI™ Laser Treatment?

The MOXI laser is a non-ablative fractional laser device that focuses primarily on the uppermost layers of your skin. This laser technology is a gentle approach to collagen stimulation and healthy cellular production.

How Does It Work?

MOXI fractional laser resurfacing works by creating micro-zones of coagulation in the superficial layers of the skin. As a non-ablative laser, it doesn’t obliterate tissue. As a fractional laser, it treats pinpoint areas, leaving bridges of intact skin in between the micro-injuries. This laser technique prompts the body to engage in tissue recovery responses. These repair processes can lighten hyperpigmentation and replace dead and damaged cells with healthy cells that behave in more youthful ways.

What Does MOXI™ Treat? Am I a Good Candidate?

MOXI is described as the laser for everyone! As a low-level laser, this device is safe for all skin types and tones. Some of the conditions that can improve with MOXI laser treatment include:

  • Sun damage
  • Hyperpigmentation
  • Freckles
  • Uneven skin tone or texture
  • Mild signs of aging, such as fine lines
  • Melasma

You may be a great candidate for MOXI fractional laser treatment whether your goal is to prevent the signs of aging from appearance sooner than absolutely necessary. You may benefit from this treatment if the signs of sun damage have begun to appear. This treatment can be performed on the face, neck, chest, arms, and hands.

Does MOXI™ Treatment Hurt?

Your MOXI treatment shouldn’t hurt at all. Beforehand, your provider may apply a topical numbing cream to the treatment area. This desensitizes the nerve endings enough to blunt much of the warming or tingling that may occur as the laser energy penetrates the skin.

How Soon Will I See the Results of My MOXI™ Laser Treatment?

Your results will appear over time. Immediately after your laser treatment, you can expect to look slightly flushed or sunburned. Your skin may also feel warm. Three to five days after your session, you’ll develop tiny dots called “mendz.” As your body responds to the laser energy that’s been absorbed, your older, damaged skin cells will start to loosen. Your skin may feel rough for a few days. If you have spots or areas of hyperpigmentation, these may darken. The cellular turnover process may complete itself in about a week. However, you can expect your skin to continue to improve for up to a few months as healthy new collagen continues to remodel the dermis and epidermis.

Will I Need Multiple Treatments?

When you consult with your experienced provider about MOXI laser treatment, they’ll conduct a thorough assessment of your skin. Depending on your concerns, their severity, and your goals, we may recommend that you schedule a series of three to four treatments. MOXI may also be combined with other modalities as needed to personalize your program to your desired outcome.
