Sun Damage Treatments in Louisville, Lexington, Kentucky
Skin Corrections, are the most effective treatments to reverse sun damage and reduce irregular skin pigmentation, unwanted redness, fine lines, brown spots, and acne. Another laser treatment offered is our Brown/Red Eraser Laser; this is a spot treatment for darkly-pigmented lesions on the face and body.
Affirm Laser
Affirm Laser can be used to treat Frown Lines and other skin complications. This system makes the skin appear more supple, youthful, and full while helping to treat fine lines, pore size, skin tone, and texture. Since this laser does not go any deeper into the skin than necessary, the treatments deliver only minimal discomfort that is tolerable without the use of topical numbing creams. Sunburn-like redness, swelling, or puffiness is usually gone within hours but lasts more than a few days.
The Affirm treatments require a series of 3-5 sessions to expose all of the skin to the microthermal laser zones. Sessions last 30 minutes and are spaced 3 weeks apart.
MicroLaserPeel
Another treatment for sun damage is our MicroLaserPeel. This laser is a partial-to-full epidermal laser peel and is done in-office using a topical anesthetic. It ablates the outermost layers of the skin with the depth of the peel going between 10 and 50 microns, based on the level of correction. It goes deeper into the epidermis than treatments like our Microdermabrasion, but is much less invasive than laser resurfacing. This treatment is usually repeated 2-4 times, spaced 6-8 weeks apart to achieve the desired result. The downtime for this peel is placed over 3 to 4 days. Patients may look sunburned immediately following the treatment. Redness will continue to dissipate. MicroLaserPeel can also be used for the treatment of Facial Lines.
Photo Dynamic Therapy w/ Levulan
Photo Dynamic Therapy w/ Levulan is used to treat precancerous lesions on the skin, and also shuts down sebaceous oil glands in the skin for those with oily skin. These come in a series of 2-3 treatments spaced 6 weeks apart. This does require a 24- to 36-hour downtime and to stay indoors away from light for 24 hours. This can cause the face to become red like a sunburn; some patients can peel depending on skin type.
